I stayed in this cozy hostel for 8 nights looking for a time-out after having travelled through Bali for a week. The hostel has a very personal atmosphere about it as its staff members are very friendly, helpful and reliable. It has nice 6 rooms with Air Conditioning and very comfortable beds. The host, Bobby, is an open-minded and gentle guy who can immediately provide guests with all the necessary information they need to have a pleasant stay in at the edge of South Sulawesi (including restaurants, dive spots, snorkeling areas and transport methods). He speaks English, German and Indonesian and is even up to taking visitors to places in the area. The Beach Panrang Luhu is only a 2-minute-walk from the hostel and the paradisal Bara Beach is just a 20-minute-walk from here or a ten-minute drive by scooter. I can highly recommend you to come here if you want to discover this seemingly undiscovered part of Indonesia with the help of a local.

We visited Bira many times because we built a Phinisi Boat at Panrang Luhu Beach, and most of the time we stayed in this lovely hostel. Our room was always clean, the air-conditioning was not noisy, and the hot-water shower worked perfectly!
The value for money is really good. Especially the bed and its sheets are comfortable to sleep in after a hard day.

We visited Bira for two weeks in 2019 and had a wonderful time in this beautiful fishermen village. The people were super friendly and sometimes even asked us to take pictures with them. The beach is beautifully remote, and on some days you feel like the whole beach belongs to yourself. What we liked most is the feeling that every day felt like a Sunday.
The food was surprisingly good at Bira with good restaurants and nice Ambiente. If you stay for a while, you will for sure get to know the Bira community of ex-pats, who love their Bintang Beer and a good conversation! One of our highlights was a bonfire beach party at Bora Beach. We left Bira full-hearted and with a lot of new friends.

Phinisi Hostel
For a very affordable price... The facilities and comfort are very satisfying....
The rooms and service are very good, only the road access is a bit extreme at high tide, but for those who like peace, this hotel is highly recommended, the sunrise is perfect, the room facilities are very good, the balcony is beautiful, especially the bathroom, very clean, no moss on the corners of the ceramics (every time I stay in public facilities, the bathroom is the most important thing I pay attention to, if it's clean, it means the owner really cares), thank you for the many services 🙏🙏🙏

I didn't think the access was that bad. The water was rising and up to the access road to the hotel which was narrow and dirty because it was located right on the beach.
The 100 thousand deposit was said to be returned after checkout.
Overall the room is good but there is no smell of room perfume or sex.
The water flow was small until it didn't flow at all because it was said that the water had run out in the reservoir when the child was about to go to the toilet. Thank God I was brought gallon water while waiting for the water to flow.
There are no toiletries and only towels are provided.
The room lights were uncomfortable because they were yellow lights which gave me a headache.
After I wanted to check out, it turned out that two of my younger siblings had been charged even though there was no information about sex beforehand...
It said more than 2 people were charged. Should have been informed when checking in.
The management also chuckled but wanted to cut the deposit. But I only asked for 50% of the deposit which was deducted because there was no information beforehand and we also didn't ask for an extra bed.
The location is a bit far from Bira beach. You have to take a vehicle to get out to Bira beach.

I found this hotel on google maps, booking hotels on saturday night at Bira was a little bit uneasy. We booked via whatsapp, it was great, fast respond, and very friendly admins.

It is located just right before Bira - Selayar Harbour, the access is rocky, bumpy and quite dark (not on asphalt), just next to the beach.
The Hotel itself resembles of a phinisi ship, we booked 2 rooms, dorm and family type, dorm type has shared bathroom outside the room, and family room has inside bathroom. Dorm has 4 beds, family room has one bed for two and an extra bed, we love the family room, it's spacious, with tv, aircon, and a private balcony, but in the room only provide shelves with no hangers or spot to hang our clothes. They also provide couple of electrical plugs which help us alot...
Aminities. They provide towels only, yet no toothbrush, toothpaste, soap/shampoo. They also provide us wifi (my regular telkomsel card had bad signal). We had nasi goreng and ommelete for breakfast, yummy...
The view
It's a perfect place to see sunrise, they have a place to chill in every floor and we can use the hammocks and bean bags
We had some issues, like... - There are alot of bugs everywhere, my friend got bitten by it while he's sleeping, - the access to the hostel is dark and rocky, we arrived there at night so it was a lil bit spooky (the full moon that night was fantastic anyway), - cleanliness. I found the tables in front of the room were lil bit dirty, the balcony also covered by dust, and some of the bean bags were stained.
Overall....
It's a great hostel, friendly staffs, great view... We enjoy staying here...

My favorite place is the lounge that we can directly enjoy the beautiful beach view and listen to the beautiful sound of water all the time.

With a group of 9 people we had an amazing stay of one night at the Phinisi hostel. The owner and other employees are really kind and speak English fluently. Through the owner we arranged to go snorkeling and he also recommended a nice restaurant with private beach. Rooms and bathrooms are clean. Beds are comfortable and with airconditioning. The common rooms are very nice for relaxing. Overall really good value for money since breakfast is also included(with an amazing view on the water).
Great place for groups of friends ! Large open spaces on 3 different levels, AC, comfortable beds and they also have different room options - for couples but also rooms with bunkbeds for single travellers. Highly recommended!
Stayed 3 nights, had a great time! The building is really nice, with lot of spaces to hang out. Everything is very clean. Room with AC. And very cheap for how good it is 🙂
